Calabazas Creek Research, Inc. designs mode converters
and tapers for a number of applications, including accelerator systems, Radar,
and fusion devices. Recent converters include:
TE11
to TE01 - TE11 to TE12
- TE01 to 80% TE01 and 20%
TE02 for transmission across waveguide gaps
Tapers are designed to
maximize mode purity while minimizing length. Nonlinear tapers are designed using
the optimizing feature in Cascade to achieve mode purities
exceeding 98%.
TE11 to TE12 Mode Converter/Taper
This device converts the TE11 mode to the TE12 mode and increases the waveguide
diameter from 1.5 inches to 4.75 inches. At the same time, the device transmits
the TE01 mode without modification. This converter/taper will be used in the RF
waveguide system for the Next Linear Collider.
