BOA Overview
This
download contains the latest version of the Beam Optics Analyzer program
(BOA).
BOA is designed to import geometrical data from 3D CAD programs producing
ACIS or ParaSolid output files. This includes almost all commercially
available CAD programs. Users should consult the BOA User Manual for proper
setup of the geometry files and operation of BOA.
BOA
is built to run on these versions of Microsoft Windows: Windows 2000, Windows
XP, and Vista. BOA comes in two versions,
one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit computers. Please make sure you select the
correct version of BOA to install on your machine. If you don't know which version to
install, go the Start Menu, choose "Run...", type "cmd"
in the edit box and hit OK. A
command prompt window will appear.
Type the word "set" and hit enter. The command prompt window will display
a long list of entries. If this
list includes "PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=x86", you have a 32-bit
computer and should download the x86 version of BOA. If the list says
"PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=AMD64", you have a 64-bit computer and
should download the x64 version of BOA.
1. Download BOA Version 4.1. To download the file for the
x86 platform, click on Download
BOA Version 4.1 x86 Platform.
To download for the x64 platform, click on Download BOA Version 4.1 x64
Platform. You will have the
option to Open or Save the installer.
If you choose Open, the installer will directly install BOA to any
location on your computer that you specify. If you choose Save, you will be able
to download the BOA installer to any location on your computer and install
BOA later at your convenience.
Once you have downloaded the installer, simply double-click the file
to proceed with the installation.
2. The BOA user manual can be found in the doc directory of BOA install. However, the user manual is under
constant revision. You can come
back later to this web site and click on Download
User Manual to obtain the revised version.
3. The BOA mesher and solver require a license file. To obtain a 30-day demo license,
please contact Thuc Bui at bui@calcreek.com with your name and address. When the license file CCRLicenses.lic
is received, place it in a temp directory, re-run the installer or click on
License Installer under the Tools menu of BoaGui and follow the onscreen
instruction.
4. To run BOA, double-click the file "BoaGui.exe" in the location
you installed BOA (the default location is in the directory: C:\Program
Files\CCR\Beam Optics Analysis\bin but you may have changed the location when
you installed BOA) or go to the Start Menu, find "Beam Optics
Analysis" and select BoaGui.
You can also run BOA from its Desktop shortcut if you selected to
create it during the installation.
5. To install the latest patch, if one is available, click on the download
link provided below to either Open or Save the patch. If you have chosen the
default directory for BOA installation, the patch will self-extract to the
proper location. If not, during the extraction you can browse to the bin
folder under your BOA installation directory to unzip the patch.
